60 Minutes’ story “Boomers Go Bust”

What a great story 60 minutes ran this week!  They looked at the problem of Baby Boomers savings having been eroded by the Global Financial Crisis, and interviewed several people about the impact this has had on their lives and their prospects for the future.  The video is just over 10 minutes long but well worth viewing. http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=7926535

With all the work I have been doing with mature aged workers I recognised this as a problem some time ago and set up Redesign Retirement as an additional business.  Redesign Retirement now offers individual/couple retirement lifestyle planning, workshops and an online FREEDOM Retirement Action Program.

FREEDOM Retirement Action Program takes people through a professional retirement lifestyle planning program, then leads them through the discovery of the possibilities of creating an online business to generate income to fund their retirement.  Participants are given the practical knowledge and professional support to make decisions about how they can use their skills, experience, passions and interests developed over many years to enhance their future.

Wouldn’t it be great if 60 minutes did a follow-up story about how Baby Boomers are responding proactively to their financial situation and creating their own businesses to supplement their depleted retirement funds.
